Responsible farming means thinking beyond the next season. At Tallawanta, sustainability is about ensuring the land remains productive and healthy for generations to come.
Our approach focuses on long term land health rather than short term gain. Crop rotations, soil management, and responsible livestock practices help maintain the balance between production and environmental stewardship.
Healthy soil produces strong crops, strong crops feed healthy cattle, and healthy cattle produce exceptional beef.
By combining traditional farming knowledge with modern agricultural science we continue refining how we care for our land and livestock.
For us sustainability is not a marketing concept. It is simply the responsibility that comes with farming the same land year after year.

Closed Loop Approach
Nothing on the farm should be wasted. At Tallawanta we operate a closed loop farming system that connects crops, cattle, and soil in a continuous cycle.
The grains that feed our cattle are grown on the same property where they are finished. Organic nutrients produced by our cattle are returned to the soil, helping replenish the land and support future crops.
This circular system strengthens the natural relationship between soil, crops, and livestock. Nutrients are recycled, biological life in the soil is supported, and the land becomes more resilient over time.
By keeping the system connected we maintain greater control over quality while also improving the long term health of the farm.
It is a practical expression of responsible farming. Nothing wasted, everything connected, and the land left in better condition for the generations that follow.

Methane Reduction
Sustainability also means embracing innovation that improves the way we farm. Through our partnership with Sea Forest we have introduced SeaFeed™ into our feeding programs.
SeaFeed™ is a natural feed supplement derived from organic compounds found in native seaweed. When included in cattle rations it has been shown to significantly reduce methane emissions by up to 80 percent while maintaining animal health and eating quality.
This allows us to meaningfully reduce the environmental footprint of beef production while maintaining the standards our customers expect.
Importantly this innovation does not change how our cattle are raised. They remain on open country nourished with home grown grain and artesian spring water.
It simply represents another step forward in refining how we care for the land, our animals, and the future of the farm.

Soil Carbon Project
Healthy soil is the foundation of sustainable agriculture. At Tallawanta in partnership with Precision Pastures we have undertaken a long term soil carbon project across the paddocks that grow the grains our cattle eat.
Working with leading soil scientists, this project measures and supports improvements in soil carbon while strengthening the overall health of the land.
Improving soil structure, increasing organic matter, and strengthening root systems enhances water retention, crop resilience, and long term productivity.
Over time this approach also allows carbon to be naturally stored within the soil, demonstrating how good farming practices can deliver environmental benefits.
The goal is simple. Leave the land in better condition than we found it and ensure it continues to nourish future generations.
